WILLEMSTAD – On Wednesday, February 4, 2026, Curaçao’s Minister Plenipotentiary in Washington, Jérôme Beeldsnijder, took part in a diplomatic gathering at the invitation of Jens Hanefeld, Ambassador of Germany to the United States.
The event was organized in the context of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and aimed to bring together diplomatic representatives from participating nations while highlighting the importance of international connection through sport.

During the evening, the official match ball for the 2026 World Cup — designed by Adidas and named “Trionda” — was unveiled. The name refers to three fundamental elements: unity, passion, and diversity. Its design draws inspiration from the fluid motion of waves, symbolizing the connection between continents and cultures. The ball represents innovation, heritage, and a shared future.
For Curaçao, the concept resonates strongly with the island’s “Blue Wave” narrative, in which sport, island identity, the blue economy, and international cooperation converge.
The gathering served as an inspiring example of sports diplomacy in action. Curaçao’s presence underscored the importance of visibility on the global stage — not only in sporting terms, but also within the broader diplomatic community.
