Curaçao Political Parties Submit Candidate Lists for March Elections

Local | By Correspondent January 23, 2025

WILLEMSTAD – Today, political parties in Curaçao are set to submit their candidate lists to the Electoral Council of Curaçao (ERC) in preparation for the upcoming elections on March 21. A total of 29 candidates will participate in the elections.

The submission process, a critical step toward the elections, includes the delivery of candidate lists and, for new parties, the required voter support declarations. The Central Voting Bureau will review the documents to ensure compliance with legal requirements.

For many parties, this event serves as an opportunity to demonstrate their readiness for the electoral contest to their supporters. The official submission day marks a significant milestone in the lead-up to the elections.

To accommodate the proceedings, the Curaçao Police Force (KPC) has implemented temporary traffic measures around Scharlooweg. Parking at locations such as the MCB Bank, Fundashon Kas Popular, and The Movies will be prohibited, and Plasa Mundu Merced will be completely closed to vehicles.

Additionally, major roads, including Scharlooweg, Wilhelminabrug, and Abraham Mendes Chumaceiro Boulevard, will experience temporary closures or restricted access. Intersections like Scharlooweg-Nauwsteeg and Bargestraat-Nauwsteeg are also subject to these measures.

The authorities ask for public cooperation to ensure a smooth and secure process.
