WILLEMSTAD - The police of Curaçao will meet again today during working hours. Yesterday too, but then the meeting was eventually suspended because the Minister of Justice, Shalten Hato, did not show up.
More than 100 officers came to the NAPD union building yesterday. There, a list of thirteen points of concern was drawn up, which mainly concern how the police apparatus treat the officers internally, including aftercare after incidents in which officers are injured.
The police leadership has meanwhile reported that it allows officers to meet during working hours, but at their own expense. No work, no pay. The use of police vehicles and other equipment to attend today's meeting is also allowed.
The NAPB union has reacted furiously to these announcements and speaks of intimidation.
