WILLEMSTAD - The police in Curaçao have started cracking down on drivers who illegally dump waste in natural areas and prohibited locations on the island. This morning, a dump truck was caught in the area of Fortuna Ariba. The driver received a fine, and the vehicle was confiscated.
A police unit from Rio Canario took action after receiving information about an illegal waste dump in the Fortuna Ariba area. They found a dump truck on-site that had just dumped waste. The unit intervened immediately and brought the vehicle to the Rio Canario police station.
In addition to a fine for illegal waste dumping, it was found that the vehicle's documents were not in order. Therefore, the police seized the vehicle and parked it at a special location pending further technical inspections.

The police make an urgent appeal to all Curaçao residents to report illegal waste dumping. Offenders not only risk receiving a fine but also having their vehicle confiscated, pending further inspection and the necessary document rectifications.
