Curaçao police arrest third suspect in marechaussee murder case

WILLEMSTADOn Friday night, the Curaçao police arrested a third suspect in connection with the fatal robbery on Reigerweg on May 31, which resulted in the death of 49-year-old Adjutant Toon Brood. 

The arrest took place at 1:15 AM on F.D. Rooseveltweg near a restaurant. The police apprehended 26-year-old G.H.Z., a Curaçao native, on suspicion of involvement in the murder. 

Following the arrest, the police conducted a house search at an address on Kaya Tamburero, seizing important items for the investigation. 

Previous Arrests 

Previously, two other suspects were detained, 25-year-old C.C.N. and a 22-year-old man. Both voluntarily reported to the police station. 

During a house search on Brionweg, 25-year-old J.J.J.S. was arrested. He was found in possession of Adjutant Brood's stolen motorcycle, which was taken on May 6. He is not believed to be involved in the robbery. 

Farewell Ceremony 

Last week, a farewell ceremony with full honors was held for Brood at the Sufisant Marine Barracks on the island. His body has since been transported to the Netherlands, where he will be buried.
