Local, World news, | By Correspondent March 25, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao national football team has held a training session in Australia as it continues preparations for a series of international friendly matches.

The team is scheduled to face China on Friday in what will be the first match under new head coach Fred Rutten. Rutten recently took over from Dick Advocaat, who stepped down to focus on his ill daughter.

Curaçao will also play a friendly against Australia next Tuesday as part of its preparation program. The squad is expected to hold another training session tomorrow, followed by a press conference.

The matches form part of the team’s buildup to the 2026 World Cup, where Curaçao will compete in the group stage against Germany, Ecuador, and Ivory Coast.

The training camp in Australia is seen as an important step in fine-tuning the squad and building cohesion under the new coaching leadership.
