WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao’s media and sports community is in mourning following the sudden death of popular sports commentator Julius “Kokito” Koko. He passed away at the age of 53. 

Koko, known for his passionate and engaging sports commentary on Radio Mas, was also widely respected for his dedication to social issues and community reporting. Throughout his career, he worked with several media outlets across the island, earning a reputation as a voice for the people and a committed journalist. 

Earlier this month, Koko was reportedly injured in a car accident. However, it remains unclear whether those injuries contributed to his unexpected passing. Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of death. 

Tributes have begun pouring in from colleagues, listeners, and members of the local sports world, many of whom remember him not only for his talent behind the microphone but also for his warmth, sense of humor, and unwavering support for local athletes. 

Radio Mas is expected to honor Koko’s legacy in a special broadcast later this week.
