WILLEMSTAD – Minister of Social Development, Labor and Welfare (SOAW) Charetti America-Francisca is part of the Kingdom delegation attending the annual United Nations Commission on the Status of Women in New York this week.

The gathering marks the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), held at the headquarters of the United Nations and continuing until March 15.

This year’s summit focuses on improving access to justice for women and girls worldwide. Discussions center on strengthening fair legal systems, addressing discriminatory laws and removing structural barriers that prevent women and girls from accessing justice and equal rights.

The international meeting brings together governments, United Nations organizations and civil society groups to evaluate global progress on gender equality and women’s rights, while also identifying areas where further action is needed.

The Kingdom of the Netherlands delegation includes ministers from Curaçao and Sint Maarten, the Dutch ambassador for women’s rights and gender equality, the State Secretary for Education and Emancipation, and the Kingdom’s permanent representative to the United Nations. Youth representatives and members of non-governmental organizations are also participating.

Through the participation of representatives from across the Kingdom, the delegation aims to contribute to international dialogue on policies and initiatives that promote gender equality and strengthen the rights of women and girls.
