Curaçao Likely to Play Group Stage in Home Kit at World Cup 2026

| By Correspondent March 20, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao’s national football team is unlikely to use its newly designed away kit during the group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as no color clashes are expected with its opponents.

Curaçao has been placed in Group E alongside Germany, Ecuador, and Ivory Coast. Traditionally, these teams wear white, yellow, and orange kits respectively, providing sufficient contrast with Curaçao’s colors. As a result, the team is expected to play all group matches in its home kit.

The development comes as the new away kit is set to be unveiled this month. While its use on the field may be limited in the early stages of the tournament, the design carries significant cultural meaning.

The kit has been created as a tribute to the vibrant districts of Punda and Otrobanda, aiming to showcase Curaçao’s identity and heritage on the global stage.

The design is already drawing international attention as part of a broader trend in football apparel, where major brands such as adidas focus on “storytelling kits” that reflect local culture and community narratives.

The away kit will be officially presented during an adidas event in Los Angeles, with the full launch of both the home and away uniforms expected in mid-May.

Whether the away kit will be used later in the tournament will depend on Curaçao’s progression and potential matchups in the knockout rounds. For now, however, it appears the team will rely solely on its home colors during the group stage.
