Local | By Correspondent January 24, 2025

WILLEMSTADOn Tuesday, Fundashon Alton Paas took a significant step toward promoting inclusion and mobility in Curaçao with the launch of the project "Access for All: Mobility and Inclusion in Curaçao." The unveiling of the first electric accessible vehicle marks a milestone in efforts to empower people with limited mobility and create a more inclusive society.

The electric accessible vehicle, funded in part by Rotary Club Willemstad through their Rota (Fun)drive campaign, represents sustainable progress and equal opportunities. The vehicle is part of a broader project aimed at making mobility services more accessible for individuals with disabilities.

During the event, the foundation also introduced a refreshed identity for its service, Wheelee. With a modern logo, vibrant colors, and new uniforms, Wheelee highlights its commitment to freedom and inclusion. The rebranding is intended to further solidify its role as a vital service, connecting people with mobility limitations to the broader community.

Raising Awareness

Another key moment was the launch of a mobility awareness campaign. Using storytelling, the campaign shares personal stories of how accessible transportation enhances quality of life. The goal is to inspire social change and emphasize the importance of inclusion.

Additionally, Fundashon Alton Paas announced a partnership with ten local businesses. Four of these companies are offering exclusive discounts to Wheelee users who visit their locations. This collaboration underscores a collective effort to break down barriers and promote inclusion throughout Curaçao.

Alton Paas, founder of the foundation, stated during the launch: “Today is not just about innovation, but about empowerment and community. With the new identity of Wheelee and the support of our partners, we are building a future where mobility is no longer a privilege, but a right for everyone in Curaçao.”
