Curaçao Launches Donation Drive to Support Jamaica After Devastating Hurricane Melissa

Red Cross and Jamaican Consulate call on the community to contribute to relief efforts

WILLEMSTAD - In the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, which swept through the Caribbean leaving behind widespread devastation and loss, Curaçao is rallying to support the people of Jamaica, one of the hardest-hit islands.

Thousands of Jamaicans have lost their homes, while many others mourn the loss of loved ones. Entire communities are struggling to recover from the storm’s impact.

In response, the Jamaican Consulate in Curaçao has launched a humanitarian appeal, calling on residents to help those affected. The Curaçao Red Cross has opened a dedicated MCB bank account (number 2004) to collect donations for emergency relief efforts.

Every Contribution Counts

The funds raised will go directly toward providing shelter, food, medical aid, and rebuilding assistance for victims in Jamaica.

“This is a moment to show our solidarity and compassion for our Caribbean neighbors,” the Red Cross said in a statement. “Every contribution, no matter how small, can make a difference.”

How to Help

Donations can be made via MCB bank account number 2004 (four digits only). The Red Cross encourages everyone on the island — individuals, companies, and organizations — to take part in this urgent effort.

With the slogan “Curaçao Helps Jamaica,” the campaign highlights the island’s enduring spirit of Caribbean unity in times of crisis.
