WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao has officially joined the EmpowHer project, an international initiative under the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme that focuses on empowering women and youth professionals. According to organizers, the project highlights Curaçao’s strategic role as a bridge between Europe and the Caribbean in the fields of gender equality, entrepreneurship, and youth participation.
EmpowHer is a three-year program financed by the European Union, bringing together partners from Italy (lead partner), Spain, Montenegro, Kosovo, Albania, and now Curaçao.
The project offers capacity building, virtual exchanges, and local initiatives to better equip women and youth workers to tackle social challenges in their communities. It aims to strengthen leadership skills, expand access to resources, and support inclusive decision-making processes.
The EU Desk Curaçao, which works to increase local organizations’ access to European funding opportunities, played a key role in securing the project for the island. Its involvement reflects a growing interest in leveraging EU partnerships to boost local development and social inclusion.
With its participation in EmpowHer, Curaçao joins a collaborative network focused on creating impactful, community-driven change across Europe and the Caribbean.
