WILLEMSTAD - The Pain Clinic Curaçao, now known as Curaçao International Clinic, has obtained its hospital permit after a 24-year wait. Minister of Health, Javier Silvania, and owner Pascal Sahoury signed the permit on Friday.
The clinic is seen as a welcome addition to help alleviate the pressure on the long waiting lists in the healthcare system.
The obtained permit allows CIC to provide hospital care to ASA-1 and ASA-2 patients. ASA-1 patients are healthy individuals without severe medical conditions that affect their daily functioning. ASA-2 patients have a mild, stable medical condition that is manageable and has minimal impact on their daily functioning.
The private clinic is not authorized to treat patients who may require immediate access to an intensive care and/or medium care unit or have an ASA score of 3 or higher. An ASA-3 patient is someone with a severe medical condition that significantly affects their daily functioning.
