WILLEMSTAD Curaçao International Airport has received the first of three state-of-the-art firefighting vehicles designed specifically for airport fire and rescue operations. The new equipment marks a significant investment in enhancing emergency preparedness and overall safety on the airport grounds.

The high-tech vehicle is equipped to respond to a wide range of emergencies, including aircraft fires and other critical incidents. It represents a modernization of the airport’s firefighting fleet and reflects ongoing efforts to meet international safety standards.

Before the vehicle is officially put into operation, airport fire personnel will undergo extensive training to ensure they are fully prepared to use the new equipment effectively.

According to airport officials, the new fire truck is expected to be fully operational and ready for deployment by September. The remaining two vehicles are scheduled to arrive in the coming months.

Tropical Wave in the Atlantic Being Monitored by Meteorological Service Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD A tropical wave is currently located in the central Atlantic Ocean, approximately 2,000 kilometers east-southeast of the Caribbean region, which includes the ABC islands. This was reported by the Meteorological Service of Curaçao (Meteo).

According to meteorologists, atmospheric conditions are not currently favorable for rapid development into a cyclone. As a result, any strengthening of the system is expected to occur slowly.

The weather disturbance is moving westward and could approach the eastern Caribbean islands within the next four days.

“The situation is being closely monitored, but at this time the likelihood of rapid intensification remains low,” Meteo stated.

Residents are advised to stay informed through official channels as the system progresses across the Atlantic.
