Curaçao International Airport Adopts New Technology to Reduce Passenger Wait Times

WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao International Airport (CAP) is implementing cutting-edge technology to shorten wait times and improve passenger flow. The airport management company has signed an agreement with Swiss firm Xovis to introduce its advanced Passenger Flow Management System.

The new system aims to ensure smoother operations and faster processing for travelers. Real-time data will be shared with key airport stakeholders, including Immigration and Customs, though it will be up to those agencies to act on the information provided.

Xovis’ system continuously monitors passenger movement across the terminal, tracking how many travelers are waiting in different areas, 24 hours a day. This allows the airport to quickly identify bottlenecks and deploy additional staff where needed. As a result, travelers will experience shorter lines and a more seamless journey through the airport.

“Through this collaboration, we can make decisions that directly enhance the passenger experience,” said Ricardo Hernández, CEO of CAP. “We can respond faster to peak times and ensure every traveler enjoys a smooth and efficient journey. This technology supports our mission to innovate and grow.”

Hato International Airport is the first in the Caribbean to partner with Xovis. The Swiss company’s system is already in use at major international airports, including Düsseldorf in Germany and Dallas and Newark in the United States.
