Local, | By Press release August 21, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Innovation & Technology Institute (CITI) has opened registration for the 28th edition of the Curaçao Innovation Award, inviting individuals, startups, organizations and businesses to submit innovative ideas and projects. Registration is free and remains open until September 10, 2026.

The annual award aims to recognize, celebrate and encourage innovation across Curaçao. According to CITI, the initiative has developed into an important platform for highlighting local creativity and encouraging solutions that can contribute to the island’s economic and social development.

This year’s competition includes several areas of innovation, including business, digital technology and sustainability. A separate youth innovation category is available for participants under the age of 29.

Entries will be evaluated based on factors including their impact, originality and viability. The competition is open to people and organizations that have developed an innovative idea, project, product, service or business concept.

CITI said Curaçao has demonstrated considerable creativity and willingness to innovate over the years, which has helped sustain the award for nearly three decades.

The organization considers innovation an important driver of economic diversification and social development, particularly as Curaçao seeks to expand economic opportunities beyond its traditional sectors.

The Curaçao Innovation Award is organized by CITI in cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO). The organizers say the partnership reflects an ongoing effort to strengthen Curaçao’s innovation ecosystem and provide greater visibility to local innovators.

Registration is now open and applications can be submitted through CITI’s official website until September 10.
