WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao is once again under consideration for participation in the prestigious Caribbean Series, as the Confederación de Béisbol Profesional del Caribe (CBPC) announced six confirmed teams and left two open slots for potential invitees — with Curaçao, Panama, Nicaragua, and Japan in the mix.
The 2026 Caribbean Series will take place in Venezuela, with games scheduled at Estadio Monumental Simón Bolívar in Caracas and Estadio Forum La Guaira in La Guaira next February. The confirmed teams include the champions from the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Venezuela — the four core CBPC member nations — along with Colombia and Cuba.
While Curaçao is not yet confirmed, its inclusion in the list of four countries being considered for the final two spots is a significant sign of growing recognition for the island’s baseball development. Curaçao last competed in the Caribbean Series in 2023, also held in Caracas, but had a difficult showing, losing all of its games, including one to Cuba’s Agricultores — their only win in the tournament.
Despite that result, Curaçao’s presence on the international baseball stage continues to rise, bolstered by its strong pipeline of Major League talent and a vibrant local baseball culture. The possibility of returning to the Caribbean Series gives the island another chance to demonstrate its competitiveness at the regional level.
The CBPC has not yet announced when the final two teams will be selected, but interest in Curaçao’s inclusion remains high. Should the island receive the invitation, it would provide a major boost for local baseball programs and offer Curaçaoan fans the opportunity to see their champions compete against the Caribbean's best.
The Caribbean Series is one of the most prestigious baseball tournaments in the region, with national pride and regional bragging rights at stake. Curaçao Chronicle will continue to follow developments closely as the final tournament lineup is confirmed.
