WILLEMSTAD – Minister of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning Charles Cooper (MFK) and Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Sithree ‘Cey’ van Heydoorn (MFK) have signed a collaboration agreement with the equestrian sports organization ASPAFIKO, the government announced in a press release.
The agreement aims to support the development of a dedicated equestrian sports facility in Curaçao, responding to the sport’s growing popularity, particularly among young people on the island.
ASPAFIKO intends to professionalize equestrian sports while fostering social values within the local community. The initiative reflects a broader vision to make equestrian activities more structured, inclusive, and impactful.
The development plans include:
Enhanced sports infrastructure
Improved safety standards for both riders and animals
Community programs with a social focus
Promotion of Curaçao as a tourism and international competition destination
The agreement marks a significant step toward elevating the profile of equestrian sports in Curaçao while encouraging youth engagement and community development through sport.
