WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao government has officially launched Kita Tur, a traffic safety project designed to remove vehicles without valid documentation from public roads. The initiative aims to enhance road safety and ensure compliance with traffic regulations.
Justice Minister Shalten Hato (MFK) emphasized that the program is not a political move but a structural policy that was introduced in April and formally implemented on December 19.
Under Kita Tur, police officers are tasked with identifying and removing vehicles lacking proper documentation. Confiscated vehicles are stored in Mahuma, and owners must cover towing and storage fees to reclaim them.
The government intends for Kita Tur to be a lasting measure to improve traffic safety across the island.
