Curaçao Gaming Control Board responds to new allegations in gambling license scandal

Local | By Correspondent December 16, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - The Gaming Control Board (GCB) responded Sunday evening to a second complaint filed by politician Luigi Faneyte, who recently revealed that he had made a new report regarding what he calls the Curaçao gambling license scandal.

Faneyte’s new allegation accuses the Gaming Control Board Foundation of encouraging operators to make cryptocurrency payments through separate crypto links that were provided outside of official invoices. The GCB has denied the claims, stating that the report refers to a phone conversation with a GCB advisor who allegedly discussed the matter. However, the Board added that it does not recognize the voice in the conversation referenced by Faneyte.

The GCB also emphasized that it takes complaints about its organization seriously and will continue investigating the matter. The aim of the investigation is to determine whether, and if so, what legal actions should be taken. Part of the investigation will involve verifying the authenticity of the conversation and the identities of the individuals involved, according to the Board.
