Curaçao Export Week 2023 has started

Local | By Press release May 15, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - "The global market is more competitive than ever, and we must continue to adapt and innovate if we want to succeed in the long term as a country," said Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Ruisandro Cijntje, during the official opening of Curaçao Export Week 2023 on Monday, May 15, in the auditorium of the Central Bank. Curaçao Export Week aims to create a platform where the government can share information about export management and plans, as well as provide an opportunity for local companies interested in exporting to showcase their products and services, learn from both local and international experts, and establish long-term trade relationships and partnerships.

Curaçao Export Week 2023 continues throughout the entire week with a program packed with various talks, panels, and workshops that delve into different aspects of this year's main theme, "Innovation and Internationalization through Export." Participation in the different sessions is still possible and free, so there is no reason to miss out on all the information that will be shared throughout the week. You can participate virtually (via your computer, tablet, or phone) by registering through https://bit.ly/curacaoexportweek. By registering through this link, you can get an overview of the program until Friday, May 19, and sign up for the session(s) of your interest.

Among other things, there will be a session on accessing international finance, determining your export potential, doing business with the BES islands, and ensuring local talent and the future of export and investment. Minister Cijntje will also sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) during this week on behalf of the Government of Curaçao with Mr. Fabian Cousteau, who is leading the mega-project called Proteus. Proteus will be an underwater laboratory that will serve as a research and scientific center for the world, located in the Fuik area of Curaçao. The initiation of this project will concretize developments in our "Blue Bio Economy" sector, which is one of the seven priority sectors in Curaçao's National Export Strategy. As known, this National Export Strategy is currently in the implementation phase, and during this week, there will also be a comprehensive overview of the progress made in its implementation.

The Ministry of Economic Development (MEO) is committed to diversifying Curaçao's economy as much as possible, strengthening new economic pillars, and attracting impactful investments for Curaçao. With the continued support of organizations like CINEX, Curaçao Export Week 2023 presents yet another golden opportunity for the government and the private sector to jointly boost Curaçao's potential as a competitive, innovative, and dynamic nation.
