Curaçao Emerging as Caribbean Favorite for Families and Millennials

WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao is increasingly attracting two of the tourism industry's most valuable visitor groups: families and millennials, according to new regional tourism research.

The Caribbean Travel Trends 2026 report identifies Curaçao as one of the Caribbean destinations that performs particularly well among family-sized travel groups and travelers between the ages of 26 and 45.

The study found that families traveling in groups of three to five people represent nearly 28 percent of all tourist arrivals to the Caribbean. Within this category, Curaçao ranks among the top-performing destinations in the region, recording a 6 percent increase in arrivals from family-sized groups. Only the Cayman Islands performed better among the destinations highlighted in the report.

Researchers note that family travelers are often attracted by accommodations with multiple bedrooms, child-friendly amenities, and activities that appeal to several generations. Curaçao's growing inventory of vacation rentals, family resorts, and beach-oriented attractions may be contributing to its success in this segment.

The report also identifies Curaçao as one of the Caribbean destinations most strongly associated with millennials and Generation X travelers. Travelers aged 26 to 45 account for the largest share of Caribbean arrivals at 35 percent, and Curaçao ranks among the destinations where this age group is particularly prominent.

According to the study, these visitors are typically looking for couples-oriented vacations, lifestyle experiences, cultural activities, wellness offerings, and unique local experiences rather than traditional mass tourism products.

Tourism analysts suggest that understanding these demographic trends is becoming increasingly important as destinations compete for higher-spending visitors. Rather than promoting themselves to a broad audience, destinations are increasingly focusing on specific traveler profiles and tailoring marketing campaigns accordingly.

The report concludes that there is no single "Caribbean traveler." Instead, successful destinations are those that understand who their visitors are and adapt their tourism products to match changing preferences. Curaçao's strong performance among families and millennials suggests the island is successfully positioning itself to capture some of the region's most sought-after visitor segments.
