ZÜRICH – Curaçao now knows its opponents for the final round of qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. During the official draw held at FIFA headquarters in Zürich, Switzerland, the team coached by Dick Advocaat was placed in Group B, alongside Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Bermuda. Curaçao is currently ranked 90th in the FIFA world rankings.
Jamaica, ranked 55th, is the strongest opponent on paper, followed by Trinidad and Tobago at 96th. Bermuda rounds out the group with a ranking of 179. The qualification matches will be played across September, October, and November of 2025. Each team will play six matches — home and away against each group rival. The group winner will qualify directly for the World Cup, while the two best second-place finishers from the three groups will move on to an intercontinental playoff in March 2026.

Suriname in Group A
Suriname has also advanced to this final qualifying phase. The national team has been drawn into Group A, facing Panama, El Salvador, and Guatemala. Panama is the highest-ranked team in the group at 43rd, followed by El Salvador at 81st, Guatemala at 108th, and Suriname at 137th. Direct qualification will be a tough challenge for Suriname, though a second-place finish could still offer a route through the playoff round.
These group-stage matches mark the third and final round of qualifiers within the CONCACAF region, which covers North and Central America and the Caribbean. In total, three group winners will earn direct qualification, and two more nations will have a shot through the playoffs. Including host nations Canada, Mexico, and the United States — who qualify automatically — the region could send up to eight teams to the 2026 World Cup.
For both Curaçao and Suriname, advancing from their respective groups would be a historic achievement, but they'll need to overcome higher-ranked opponents to reach the world stage.
