WILLEMSTAD - Four dive professionals from Curaçao have completed a specialized technical training program at the Bauer factory in Norfolk, Virginia, enabling them to independently perform maintenance on Bauer diving compressors — essential equipment for dive operations across the island.

The technicians, representing Dive Division and Scuba Do, underwent an intensive three-day training course focused on compressor maintenance and safety protocols.
Faster, Cheaper, and More Independent Service
Until now, local dive centers often had to fly in foreign engineers for maintenance, which was both costly and time-consuming. With this certification, Curaçao can now handle repairs and servicing locally, ensuring faster turnaround and reduced operational costs.
“Keeping more knowledge and expertise on the island makes our dive industry stronger,” said Mick Bosman, Director of Dive Division. “Thanks to this training, we can maintain our systems more safely, efficiently, and independently.”
Strengthening Curaçao’s Role as a Regional Dive Hub
The newly acquired technical expertise marks a significant step toward greater self-reliance and professionalization within Curaçao’s dive sector. Industry representatives say it will not only improve operational safety but also reinforce Curaçao’s reputation as a leading diving destination in the Caribbean.
The initiative highlights ongoing efforts to build local capacity and reduce dependence on overseas technical support, ensuring the island’s marine tourism industry continues to thrive sustainably.
