Curaçao could collaborate with other Caribbean islands on EU projects

| By Correspondent March 13, 2026

THE HAGUE – Curaçao may be able to participate in joint regional projects with other Caribbean islands under a revised European Union funding framework for Overseas Countries and Territories.

The Dutch government confirmed that the proposed EU program will allow islands to submit joint project proposals instead of applying individually. This could encourage cooperation between territories in the Caribbean region.

European authorities actively promote such regional collaboration. Dutch officials say they are helping facilitate dialogue between the islands ahead of discussions with the European Commission.

For Curaçao, regional projects could involve areas such as climate adaptation, digital infrastructure, tourism development or economic diversification.

The funding system forms part of the EU’s broader strategy to strengthen partnerships with overseas territories and improve development opportunities in the Caribbean.
