WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) and the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO) have partnered with Sustainable Travel International and the George Washington University International Institute of Tourism Studies (GW IITS) to conduct a study on the island’s tourism carrying capacity.
This data-driven research aims to ensure that Curaçao’s tourism sector continues to grow sustainably without harming the environment, economy, or local community.
The initiative comes in response to the island’s exceptional tourism growth, with a record 700,000 visitors in 2024 and projections indicating an even higher influx in 2025.
The study will focus on finding a balance between economic benefits and ecological and cultural sustainability, ensuring that Curaçao can manage its increasing popularity responsibly and efficiently.
