WILLEMSTAD - A record number of volunteers participated in the Curaçao Clean up cleaning campaign on Saturday. 3,400 people cleaned up litter at 150 different locations.
The cleaning action took place in the context of World Clean Up Day. It is the fifth time that the Curaçao Clean Up has been organized. Never before have so many volunteers participated in the campaign.
In addition to cleaning up the neighborhoods and streets, more than 150 divers went into the water to collect waste. About 1,213 kilos of waste was removed from fourteen locations underwater.
The organization will announce in the course of the week how many kilograms of waste have been collected in total.
