Local | By Correspondent November 19, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Child Protection Foundation will focus on preventing child abuse in the upcoming week through various activities, school programs, and awareness campaigns. These efforts aim to inspire parents and organizations to support children in their growth and development.

“We believe it’s crucial to address this issue as we advocate for children’s rights,” said Amanda Rovelet of the Curaçao Child Protection Foundation. “Starting next year, we plan to visit two schools every month to conduct workshops on topics like cyberbullying. This initiative will kick off on November 20 and 21.”

In collaboration with Zorg en Jeugd Caribisch Nederland (ZJCN) and other partners, the campaign will run from November 18 to 22 under the theme "Give Love and Protection.” It emphasizes the importance of loving parenting and clear boundaries. Activities include posters, interactive school programs, and neighborhood tours.

This initiative is part of the broader Tei p’abo campaign launched in 2022, which aims to break the silence and taboos surrounding child abuse and domestic violence. The week’s events are a step toward raising awareness and fostering a safer, more supportive environment for children in Curaçao.
