ORANJESTAD - Curaçao was represented for the second time this year at the ITF Pan American Championships. The most important beach tennis tournament for countries within the Pan-American region. This beach tournament was organized on Aruba for the fourth consecutive year and took place from November 6 to 9. The tournament was opened with an official country ceremony on November 6 at 7 p.m. local time.
The Curaçao players who were represented this year by the Curaçao Tennis Federation were in the women's double-sided Janice Tjon Sien Kie, Jamie Kraus, Marlow Heijmans, supplemented by debutante Sarah Volders. Nick van Rosberg and Michiel Noordhoek participated for the second time in the men's doubles. Manuel Mair and Robbert de Zeeuw also made their debut this year. In the mixed doubles, the teams were formed by Michiel Noordhoek and Jamie Kraus and Nick van Rosberg and Janice Tjon Sien Kie.
Ten countries participated in the ITF Pan American Championships: Argentina, Aruba, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Puerto Rico, America, Venezuela, Uraguay and Curaçao. The tournament was dominated by Brazil in recent years. Despite this, Venezuela won the title in 2017.
After the Pan American Championships, the Pan American players of Curaçao will also participate in the largest beach tennis tournament in the world: the Aruba Beach Tennis Open. More than 1400 players from all over the world are taking part in this tournament, which is being organized from 10 to 18 November on Bushiri Beach. Several players from Curacao will also participate in this tournament.
