Curaçao Braces for Extra Muggy Heat in Coming Days

WILLEMSTAD – The Meteorological Department of Curaçao (Meteo) has issued a weather update warning that the island will experience increasingly oppressive heat over the next several days. A disturbance in the upper atmosphere is expected to trigger a few isolated showers heading into the weekend, but overall conditions will remain hot and humid.

According to Meteo, winds will gradually weaken starting tomorrow, becoming generally light through the coming days. The combination of reduced wind, high temperatures, and moist air will make the heat feel even more suffocating than usual.

Tropical Weather Systems Active in the Region

Meanwhile, tropical disturbance AL93 has strengthened into Tropical Storm Humberto, which was located this morning over the Atlantic Ocean east-northeast of the northeastern Caribbean islands. The storm is moving in a northwesterly direction.

A second system, tropical disturbance AL94, was centered over the northern Caribbean earlier today. It is currently producing rain and thunderstorms over parts of the Dominican Republic and the Turks and Caicos Islands and has the potential to develop into a cyclone in the coming days.

Meteo emphasized that neither of these tropical systems currently poses a threat to Curaçao.
