CARTAGENA, WILLEMSTAD – Colombian authorities have arrested Michael Francis de Haseth, a man born in Curaçao, who is suspected of being involved in international cocaine trafficking, according to multiple international media reports.
De Haseth was taken into custody in Cartagena following the issuance of a Red Notice by INTERPOL, at the request of Dutch prosecutors in The Hague. He is accused of playing a coordinating role in the smuggling of more than 100 kilograms of cocaine in 2022, primarily through the Port of Rotterdam.
The suspect is facing multiple charges, including the trafficking and transportation of illegal substances.
Colombian authorities have confirmed their cooperation in the extradition process, and De Haseth is expected to be handed over to the Netherlands, where he will stand trial.
The arrest is part of a broader international effort to combat transnational organized crime and reflects the close collaboration between law enforcement and judicial authorities across countries.
