Curaçao-born Dr. Heyden (38) promoted to Professor

WILLEMSTAD - Mariano 'Pitòsh' Heyden has been recently promoted to tenured Professor at the University of Monash in Melbourne, Australia. Professor Dr. Heyden was an Associate Professor at the Department of Management Faculty of Business & Economics at the University of Monash for the last 6 years, after starting his career at the University of Newcastle in Australia.

He is recognized for this promotion for his contribution to the University of Monash in the areas of academic activity: research, education, and engagement. He is also, since January 1, 2022, the HDR director: the delegated authority (DA) for most Ph.D. affairs and candidates. And he is known among his peers for various publications and presentations.

Professor Dr. Heyden was born in Curaçao, where he went to Cayena Kleuterschool, Berg Carmel College, Radulphus College and the University of Curaçao. He got his Master's in Philosophy degree at the Erasmus Research Institute for Management in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, where he also got his Ph.D.

Asked how he made it to this level he said that when he was told to read a book he read it twice. Also, he does not see his results as being the product of struggles but mostly the result of staying focused and trying to read as much as possible to get to know as much as possible.

His parents Mariano and Reyna Heyden-Joe and family are gratefully celebrating this achievement with him and thank every person who contributed in any way to his personal and professional development.
