WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao Baseball Week will take place from January 2nd to January 6th, 2024. During this event, our kids, coaches and umpires are given the opportunity to master the latest baseball training techniques. Many big names from the baseball industry will be on the island to participate in the various clinics that will be held during this week. Just like the past few years, Curaçao Baseball Week will again definitely be an unforgettable experience! Something new this year is that, besides clinics for players and coaches of baseball teams, there will also be a clinic, for umpires in Curaçao. All these clinics will be provided free of charge.
“We are ready to start the preparations for Curacao Baseball Week 2024”” says Hensley Meulens, the driving force behind this event. Meulens is the first Curaçao player to make it to Major League Baseball. Last year he coached with the Colorado Rockies and the year before he won the title of American League East Champions with the New York Yankees.
The main goal of Curaçao Baseball Week is to give back to our community.” Meulens explains. Curaçao Baseball Week has received confirmation that Mr. Dusty Baker, along with his wife Melissa, will be part of the CBW 2024 edition. Dusty Baker is a highly successful and respected figure in the world of baseball. In addition to a successful 19-year career in Major League Baseball, during which he led various teams to success in the postseason, Baker is recognized for his leadership qualities and profound knowledge of baseball. Dusty Baker is an icon in the sport, and it is an honor for us to welcome such a prominent figure to Curaçao.
The youngsters who are part of baseball teams, the baseball coaches and the baseball umpires will receive the opportunity to learn from professional players. Curaçao is known as the country that produces the most professional baseball players in Major League Baseball and it is a very special experience to learn the latest baseball techniques from them. The CBW 2024 is therefore another special moment to share and continue to develop knowledge about baseball.
As usual, fundraising events will also be organized during Curaçao Baseball Week. The famous Home Run Derby will take place on January 5th, 2024 at Bam Bam Tech Sports Zone and the golf competition will be organized at Old Quarry Golf Course Curaçao on January 6th, 2024.
Baseball is not just a sport, it’s a lifestyle and it's in our blood. That is why again we will use the slogan: “It’s in our DNA”. This slogan will be printed on the uniforms and caps which were designed by Brett Russel. This is how we want to bring our essence.
