WILLEMSTAD – The parliaments of Curaçao, Aruba, and Sint Maarten have confirmed their participation in the upcoming Interparliamentary Kingdom Consultation (IPKO), now set to take place at the end of September in The Hague. The decision follows a recent tripartite meeting between the presidents of the three Caribbean parliaments, held in Sint Maarten.
The Dutch Parliament’s Kingdom Relations Committee has also agreed to proceed with the organization of the IPKO, after the original June session was postponed.
Postponed Due to NATO Summit and Dutch Elections
The initial delay was due to the scheduling of a NATO summit in The Hague during the same period, which involved the presence of world leaders and demanded heightened logistical and security arrangements. Additionally, the fall of the Dutch government and the announcement of new elections—scheduled for October 29—added further complications to the parliamentary calendar.
Despite these developments, all four countries within the Kingdom of the Netherlands—the Netherlands, Curaçao, Aruba, and Sint Maarten—have now confirmed their parliamentary delegations for the September IPKO session.
The IPKO serves as a critical platform for dialogue and cooperation among the four parliaments, focusing on shared challenges, legislative coordination, and strengthening ties within the Kingdom.
