Curaçao, Aruba and Sint Maarten to join new Kingdom Conference with the Netherlands

Local, Caribbean, The Netherlands, | By Correspondent April 27, 2026

THE HAGUE – The Netherlands wants to establish a recurring Kingdom Conference with Curaçao, Aruba and Sint Maarten as equal partners to strengthen political and strategic cooperation within the Kingdom.

According to the new policy letter on Kingdom Relations, the Dutch cabinet aims to organize the first conference before the end of this year, creating a structural platform for dialogue between the four governments.

The initiative is being presented as a move toward stronger Kingdom cooperation based on equality, dialogue and shared responsibility.

Topics expected to be discussed include energy, trade, logistics, education and regional security.

The Dutch government says the conference could help improve cooperation in areas where the Kingdom currently does not fully capitalize on its collective potential.

For Curaçao, the move could be significant, particularly at a time when the island faces regional geopolitical uncertainty linked to Venezuela, migration pressures and shifting economic dynamics in the Caribbean.

The policy letter emphasizes that the Kingdom must become more strategic in its cooperation, especially given increasing geopolitical tensions and changing international alliances.

Observers say the success of the Kingdom Conference will depend largely on whether Curaçao, Aruba and Sint Maarten feel they are treated as true equal partners rather than junior counterparts.

The conference could become one of the most important new political structures within the Kingdom in years.
