AMSTERDAM - Valery Eshuis has been nominated for the Monumental Talent Award. The Curaçao native specializes in the restoration of monuments. Today, the winners will be announced at the Monument Congress in the Netherlands. The winner will receive 3 thousand euros, and each of the other finalists will be awarded 1,500 euros. This prize money is intended to further support the finalists in their careers.
Valery Eshuis specialized in heritage architecture at TU Delft during her studies in Architectural Engineering. During her academic journey, she interned in Curaçao, where she took charge of monuments and building renovations. After completing her studies, Valery decided to return to Curaçao, dividing her time between work on the island and the Netherlands.
To encourage rejuvenation and innovation in the heritage sector, the Minister of Education, Culture, and Science in the Netherlands has established the annual Monumental Talent encouragement prize. This award specifically recognizes young professionals (up to 32 years old) engaged in paid work in the Dutch monument sector.
