
WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao has announced the five individuals nominated to receive the prestigious Cross of Merit on July 2, 2025, in honor of Flag Day. The nominees officially accepted their nominations on Sunday, June 22, during a special ceremony organized by the Department of Culture and Sports of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, under the guidance of Minister Sithree van Heydoorn.
Held at the Renaissance Hotel, the acceptance ceremony brought together the nominees, their families, Members of Parliament, Ministers, and other invited guests in a celebratory and inspirational setting. Each nominee formally accepted the government's proposal to be decorated with the Cross of Merit, a crucial step in the official honors process.
The Cross of Merit is an official recognition awarded by the Government of Curaçao to citizens who have made exceptional personal contributions with a positive impact on the development of the community and the nation. It is traditionally awarded on July 2, during the annual Flag Day celebrations.
The 2025 Cross of Merit Nominees Are:
Mrs. Ella Zacarias Snijders, for her meritorious actions in community and social work.
Mrs. Yvette Elisabeth Rojer, for her contributions to the field of sports.
Mr. Harold Eustaquio Corasol, for his outstanding efforts in education and social initiatives.
Mr. Ruthsel Gregorio Martina, for his achievements in both social and sports activities.
Mr. Romeo Raymond Heije, for his exceptional contributions to social and musical activities.
