WASHINGTON, D.C. – Curaçao Minister of Health, Environment and Nature (GMN) Tyron Boekhoudt and Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) Director Dr. Jarbas Barbosa have signed the Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS) 2026–2031 between Curaçao and PAHO.

The strategy marks an important step in cooperation between Curaçao and PAHO and establishes a clear framework for the island’s public health priorities over the coming years.

Under the ambition “Un Kòrsou Salú, A Healthy Curaçao,” the strategy focuses on strengthening primary healthcare, preventing and managing communicable and noncommunicable diseases, improving mental health, and developing a resilient and sustainable healthcare system capable of continuing to meet the needs of Curaçao’s population.

Boekhoudt emphasized that while signing the document is important, the next phase—implementation—will be even more significant.

“We must now translate these priorities into concrete action. Our goal is for this cooperation to result in real and lasting improvements in the health of our people,” Boekhoudt said.

The minister also expressed his appreciation to Dr. Gabriel Vivas Francesconi, PAHO/WHO representative for Curaçao, and his team at the Trinidad and Tobago office, as well as GMN officials in Curaçao who contributed to developing the strategy.

With the signing of the Country Cooperation Strategy 2026–2031, Curaçao and PAHO reaffirm their commitment to working together to strengthen public health and healthcare on the island.

The cooperation is centered on a clear objective: “Un Kòrsou Salú”—a healthy Curaçao.
