WILLEMSTAD - The government has decided to modernize the admission procedure for dentists educated outside the Netherlands. The current regulations date back to 1934.
The revised procedure involves a newly appointed examination committee having the authority to grant exemptions for the dentistry admission exam under certain conditions.
The committee assesses whether the foreign education and obtained diploma meet the specified requirements and have a comparable level to a Dutch dentistry diploma.
The examination committee also has the option to conduct an exam, with the exam format being modernized to include an internship followed by a practical and a theoretical exam.
This modernization aims to make the admission procedure more transparent and clearer for both local students and foreign applicants.
This makes it easier for prospective students to align their choice of study with the possibilities of returning and entering the job market after completing their studies. Additionally, the change seeks equal treatment between physicians, medical specialists, and dentists.
