CuraBox delegation shines at Dutch boxing championships

Local | By Press release November 19, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - A delegation from the Curaçao Boxing Association (CuraBox) is making waves in the Netherlands at the 2024 Dutch Championships organized by the Dutch Boxing Federation (Nederlandse Boksbond, NBB). The team, comprising boxers Nahdir Haseth, Jady Gogulski, and Fabian Williams, is led by national coach Coregelino Djaoen and CuraBox president Edwin Baas.

Seventeen-year-old Nahdir Haseth achieved a major victory on November 16 in Breda, claiming the title of Dutch Youth Champion in the 54 kg category. In an intense final, Nahdir triumphed over Marciano Schel from Team HVO, avenging a loss to the same opponent in the Dutch Championships two years ago.

Jady Gogulski, competing in the 71 kg category, delivered a strong performance that many spectators believed deserved a win. However, a split decision by the judges went against him, leaving the CuraBox team and supporters surprised but proud of his effort.

Fabian Williams secured a unanimous victory in his bout and will face the experienced Ferenc Soepboer in the semi-final of the A-class 67 kg category on Saturday, November 23. If successful, Williams will advance to the final on November 24, representing CuraBox and Curaçao on the championship stage.

The CuraBox delegation continues to demonstrate the island’s boxing talent, with their performances highlighting both their skill and determination on an international platform.
