Cultural Foundation Takes Legal Action Over Seú Festival 2025 Uncertainty

Local | By Correspondent February 11, 2025

WILLEMSTAD – The Fundashon Kultural Seú Kòrsou (FKSK) has filed a lawsuit against Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, Sithree van Heydoorn over a lack of clarity regarding the organization of the Seú Festival 2025, the harvest festival.

The legal dispute stems from uncertainty about which entity will be responsible for managing the festival, despite a public tender held last year. The minister previously stated in parliament that the tender process was conducted properly and that all interested parties had the opportunity to submit their proposals.

However, FKSK claims that no official announcement has been made regarding the winning organization, leading to confusion. The foundation argues that the delay jeopardizes the planning of the festival, a key cultural event in Curaçao.

Minister Van Heydoorn, on the other hand, maintains that FKSK has not followed the proper procedures under the subsidy law, suggesting that the foundation itself may be responsible for the uncertainty.

As the court case unfolds, stakeholders await a resolution that will determine who will oversee the 2025 Seú Festival and ensure its smooth execution.
