Covenant between Curaçao and the so-called Antillean municipalities

THE HAGUE, WILLEMSTAD - Aldermen and officials from Den Helder, Groningen, Leeuwarden and Delfzijl will be on a working visit in Curaçao from 20 to 27 March.

The purpose of the trip is to conclude a covenant between Curaçao and the so-called Antillean municipalities. This should make it easier to exchange data about residents who are leaving Curaçao for the Netherlands.

According to the municipality of Den Helder, many migrants from Curaçao came to the municipality in 2019 as a result of the deteriorating situation on the island. Many come to the Netherlands without preparation. The fear is that the number will increase considerably in 2020.

The cities of Delfzijl, The Hague, Tilburg, Rotterdam, Leeuwarden and Groningen are also popular among Curaçaoans.
