Local | By Correspondent April 23, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - The courthouse at Wilhelminaplein in Punda, Kas di Korte, will be renovated this year. The renovation plans were presented to the Ministry of Justice on Monday morning by the president of the Court, Mauritsz de Kort, and the director, Martin Luttge, as announced by the ministry in a press release.

According to the renovation plan, the courthouse will be expanded to accommodate seven courtrooms, and the parking lot will be refurbished to provide more space for staff and visitors.

The courthouse in Punda is 151 years old and is listed as a protected monumental building and on the UNESCO list. "This means that during the renovation of the building, attention must be paid to many details and the building's infrastructure," said the Ministry of Justice.

Kas di Korte relocated to the former KPMG building on Nieuwe Haven in 2020, allowing the renovation work to commence.

The Ministry of Justice has not disclosed the exact start date for the renovation work.
