Court sentences 114 years in prison for murder of Venezuelan businessman

WILLEMSTAD - After four years, justice has finally been served for Venezuelan businessman Alexander Barrios. The Court recently handed down total prison sentences of 114 years to five suspects involved in his murder. He was killed on the night of February 8-9, 2020, at an abandoned estate in Choloma. The victim was buried alive in a pit while bound, as the perpetrators sought to empty his bank account. Barrios was missing for at least five weeks before his body was discovered. The appeal case for the sixth suspect is still pending.

The suspects are members of the gang "Los Lobos." They include Jose Leonardo Colina Cobis (Papiriki), George David Ordonez Ollarves (Montilon), Pedro Ignacio Rodriguez Polo (Yenge), Orbis David Casares Palencia (Chespi), and Mauricio Alejandro Loaiza Ordonez. Papiriki, Yenge, Chespi, and Montilon each received 21 years in prison, while Mauricio Loaiza Ordonez was sentenced to 19 years. The sixth suspect, Maicholl Jose Leones Garcia, was initially sentenced to 11 years in prison; whether this remains unchanged is yet to be determined.
