Court Requests More Evidence in Welgelegen Dog Attack Case

Local, | By Correspondent May 8, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – A court in Curaçao has postponed a ruling in a civil case involving an alleged dog attack in the Welgelegen area after determining that additional evidence is needed.

The case centers on a 67-year-old woman who says she was attacked and bitten by two dogs while walking in 2023.

According to her claim, the injuries were serious enough to require medical treatment at Curaçao Medical Center (CMC).

The woman is seeking more than 9,000 guilders in damages, arguing that the dog owner should be held liable for the incident.

However, the man identified as the owner of the dogs denies that his animals were involved in the attack.

Because the accounts of both parties differ significantly, the court has decided that more evidence must first be presented before a judgment can be made.

The judge has specifically requested additional material, including photographs and satellite images of the location where the alleged attack took place, to help clarify the circumstances.

The case is scheduled to continue at the end of June, when the court is expected to review the new evidence and decide on the next steps.
