Court of Audit makes recommendations to prevent issues with financial statements

WILLEMSTAD - The Secretary of the General Court of Audit, Percy Virginia, presented several recommendations to the parliament on Wednesday, aimed at addressing issues with financial statements. This took place during a meeting of the central committee regarding the annual accounts for 2020, 2021, and 2022. 

Virginia called on the political leadership to ensure that only authorized individuals are permitted to enter into financial commitments and make payments. He emphasized that this measure would help prevent numerous problems with the financial statements. 

Additionally, the Court of Audit recommended imposing sanctions on individuals who fail to comply with relevant laws and regulations. It also advised focusing on recruiting qualified personnel and ensuring the availability of the designated funds. Finally, Virginia urged that all entities within the public sector submit their annual financial reports on time. 

These recommendations are intended to improve the accountability and transparency of financial management within the government and public sector institutions.
