Court of Audit critical of ministers for not responding to reports

Local | By Correspondent July 3, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - The General Court of Audit Curaçao (ARC) has criticized ministers and civil servants for not responding to their investigative reports. While civil servants occasionally request extensions, ministers reportedly remain completely silent. This is revealed in the 2022 Annual Report of the ARC.

The Court of Audit wants to bring about a change by engaging in discussions with ministers and their civil servants. Last year, the ARC prepared and sent four investigative reports addressed to various ministries.

In total, they received responses from four ministries, while ministers failed to respond in nine cases. Minister of Justice Shalten Hato stands out for not responding twice.

The ARC indicates that the 2021 annual report also highlighted the lack of ministerial responses to their reports. With the release of the 2022 annual report, it appears that little has changed in the situation.
