WILLEMSTAD – This morning, the court approved the actions of the pharmacists. However, it instructed the Association of Pharmacists and interim Minister of Public Health Javier Silvania to schedule a meeting tomorrow to collectively find a solution.
In response, the pharmacists have suspended their actions, and their pharmacies are open as usual. Silvania will need to address the demands of the Association of Pharmacists; otherwise, new actions may follow.
Yesterday, all 31 pharmacies on the islands closed their doors until 1:00 PM, despite an instruction from the Inspector of Medicines, Sirving Keli, to reopen immediately.
The conflict revolves around raising the so-called 'prescription fee allowance' from 7 to 10 guilders and eliminating the co-payment of 1 guilder, rates that have not changed since 2001.
