Council of Ministers Hosts Farewell Dinner for the Governor of Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD - On Friday evening, October 31, 2025, the Council of Ministers organized a farewell dinner in honor of Her Excellency Lucille George-Wout, Governor of Curaçao, and her husband, Mr. George, on the occasion of the conclusion of her twelve-year tenure as Governor. The dinner took place in a unique and symbolic setting at The Cathedral of Thorns.

During the evening, Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas, on behalf of the Council of Ministers, expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation for the way in which the Governor has carried out her duties over the past twelve years. He praised her as “courageous, committed, and always seeking connection”—words he said captured the very essence of her governorship.

The Prime Minister reflected on the special relationship between the Governor and the Council of Ministers, emphasizing that she had fulfilled her three core responsibilities—to inform, advise, and warn—with great seriousness and dedication. Her discretion, engagement, and sense of responsibility, he said, left a lasting impression on the government. Prime Minister Pisas described her as a beacon of stability and wisdom, someone who, in his words, “was often able to say a lot, even by saying nothing at all.”

In his remarks, the Prime Minister also announced that, on behalf of the Council of Ministers, a local artist will create a permanent tribute to be placed in downtown Willemstad. The artwork will symbolize the Governor’s twelve years of service and her constant efforts to build bridges—within the Kingdom, with the Council of Ministers, and especially with the people of Curaçao. The final installation will be placed in a prominent and representative location.

Prime Minister Pisas concluded his speech with the words:

“We will all deeply miss the Governor. On behalf of the Council of Ministers, I wish her many more years of health and happiness together with her loved ones. Cheers.”

The evening was marked by a warm, serene atmosphere, filled with gratitude and appreciation for twelve years of exemplary leadership, service, and human connection.
