WILLEMSTAD - During its meeting on Tuesday, November 12, 2025, the Council of Ministers approved several key decisions related to national education, science, culture, and sports policies. The decisions, published on November 14, reflect Curaçao’s continued collaboration with its Kingdom partners — Aruba, Sint Maarten, and the Netherlands — as well as with Bonaire on youth and educational development initiatives.
Final agreements on Education, Science, and Culture approved
The Council approved the final version of the Education, Science, and Culture conclusions, a joint framework for cooperation between the four countries within the Kingdom. The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (ESKD) has been authorized to sign the finalized document on behalf of Curaçao.
Joint teacher training and professional development program
A second agreement, titled “Joint Training and Professionalization of Teachers in Training,” was also endorsed. This mutual arrangement establishes new mechanisms for collaboration between the education ministries of Curaçao, Aruba, Sint Maarten, and the Netherlands. The initiative aims to strengthen teacher education and expand professional development opportunities across the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. The Minister of ESKD has likewise been authorized to sign this agreement.
Inter-island School Sports Games
Finally, the Council approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Curaçao, Aruba, and Bonaire for the organization of Inter-Island School Sports Games. The annual event will promote sportsmanship, educational exchange, and cultural connection among young people across the islands.
The MoU outlines plans for a rotating schedule of hosting duties, shared organization, and increased cooperation between schools and sports federations in the region.
These agreements mark an important step in reinforcing the Kingdom’s educational and cultural ties while fostering regional unity through youth, sports, and learning.
